    Forty years ago, Cancún was an untouched spit of land off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Land that now supports high-end resorts and the nightlife of the world-famous Hotel Zone was nothing but marsh, jungle, and untouched sand.     Isla Mujeres: The Island of Women

    To get a better feel for the “real” Mexico, we decided to go off the beaten path. My parents rented a small house on the small island of Isla Mujeres, about a 30 minute ferry ride Northeast of Cancun.
